POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Technician for the Performing Arts Center is responsible for the successful and safe operation of the School District’s multi‑purpose Performing Arts Center (PAC) and associated meeting/event spaces. This position is the primary technical expert for all Audio‑Visual (AV) systems and equipment, managing the technical production needs for all school‑related and rental events (e.g., student performances, graduations, community rentals) and ensuring a high‑quality, seamless, and educationally enriching experience for all venue users and patrons.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all AV and technical needs across the performing arts center and meeting rooms.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio, lighting, projection, streaming, and recording systems for events.
  • Maintain and inventory all AV equipment; coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacements.
  • Collaborate with event organizers, directors, performers, and campus partners to assess technical requirements and ensure successful event execution.
  • Oversee room configurations, stage setups, and resets.
  • Provide AV equipment set‑up and support in other district facilities and occasionally off‑site.
  • Coordinate with DHS Broadcasting Class (DTV) for live broadcasts of select events.
  • Ensure student staff follow safety practices and customer service standards.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized performing arts center and meeting room environment.
  • Report facility needs or hazards and coordinate resolution with maintenance or custodial teams.
  • Support audience services including front‑of‑house operations, seating, and accessibility needs.
  • Maintain a workplace free of alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substances throughout employment in the District.
  • Ensure regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Required
  • Experience with live event production, including audio, lighting, projection, or stage management.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and AV systems knowledge.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred
  • Experience working in a performing arts center, theater, or event venue.
  • Experience training or mentoring student employees or volunteers.
  • Familiarity with Dante Audio systems, Yamaha CL5 audio board, lighting board ION XE, Q‑Labs, Q‑Sys, digital mixing consoles, LED lighting systems, stage rigging basics, or streaming platforms.
Work Environment
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at heights or in low‑light environments.
  • Fast‑paced, event‑driven setting with variable schedules.
SALARY

$25.00 per hour
