Youth Development Facilitator 21st Century Community Learning Centers at Genesee Education Consultant Services (GECS)
Job SummaryThe Youth Development Facilitator will provide youth development activities in five core areas to students enrolled in after school and summer programs in one or more Genesee County school districts for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.
Essential Duties (May Include, But Not Limited To)- Engage students in meaningful learning opportunities.
- Maintain a positive classroom atmosphere using effective classroom management methods.
- Maintain a physically and emotionally safe program environment.
- Participate in training related to the program and the delivery of youth development activities.
- Work closely with the program coordinator to provide activities that support the learning environment of the school.
- Work with students to build leadership skills and promote positive youth development.
- Lead activities in 6-8 week sessions for K-12 grade students in the GISD Bridges to Success program.
- Embed Common Core Standards into program activities.
- Adhere to program and grant documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with the program coordinator to build relationships with building staff, parents, students and community representatives.
- Assist in recruiting participants for program activities.
- Organize and maintain program resources including curriculum, food, supplies and equipment.
- Schedule, plan and implement all programs and activities with the coordinator.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, school staff, building principal and GISD staff.
- Attend required staff meetings.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, timesheets and other required documentation.
- Identify current and future program goals with the program coordinator.
- Maintain positive school/community relations.
- Work with small groups to improve the academic success of participating students.
- Assess student data to determine educational needs.
- Collaborate with school teachers to plan and deliver instruction to students.
- Demonstrate improved academic and behavior outcomes with students.
- Consistently model Win-Win leadership.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Valid Michigan teacher's certificate or Michigan School Age Youth Development Credential required.
Experience: Minimum of three years’ related experience in a leadership position or with an organization responsible for providing services to families and children preferred. A minimum of two years of experience working with youth preferred.
Skills/Other: Ability to lead and engage students in a variety of settings. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team member. Accurate record keeping, financial management and data collection skills. Ability to utilize district technology and maintain proficiency as needs change. Ability to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals. Maintain positive working relationships with parents/guardians and staff.
