  • Work with staff in identifying students who are experiencing circumstances which impede their ability to thrive at school
  • Assist the student and family in recognizing and working through critical problem situations that have a negative impact on the student's adjustment and performance in school.
  • Assist teachers to recognize, understand and respond to conditions within the student's life sphere which may cause their failure to thrive at school.
  • Assist parents to help in the adjustment of their child to school through use of individual and group counseling strategies.
  • Develop and offer effective parenting workshops.
  • Initiate referrals to specialized agencies and serve as contact person between these agencies and the school.
  • Make home visitations.
  • Keep teachers and administrators informed regarding progress of cases referred.
  • Provide conflict resolution training to all students.
  • Provide the opportunity for Peer Mediation training.
  • Collaborate with staff on the 504 and English Language Learner processes.
  • Maintain a program of continuous evaluation in areas of assigned responsibility and reporting such progress to the Core Team at the conclusion of each school year.
  • Work one-on one or in small groups with at-risk students providing academic and/or behavior intervention support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff and district nurse as it relates to student medical needs and medications.
  • Support and assist district nurse in the implementation of all medical plans. This includes serving as a necessary back up when the district nurse is not on campus.
  • Annually review all medical plans and allergy plans. Coordinate appropriate trainings for staff.
  • Salary: $27,500 per year
