The Lead Resource Specialist is a vital position responsible for providing comprehensive support, guidance, and strategic oversight for students enrolled in the Gateway to College (GtC) program. This role serves as a key student advocate and operational coordinator, fostering a culture of student success. The Specialist designs and executes strategic recruitment and retention initiatives, monitors student progress (including course schedules and records), and delivers integrated academic, career, and personal coaching to help students navigate the balance between life and school, set meaningful goals, and achieve educational and personal milestones.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a closely related field.
  • Experience:

    Three (3) years of professional experience working with underserved and diverse student populations in a coaching or support role.
  • Student Support Expertise:
    Demonstrated success in coaching, motivating, and building positive relationships with under-prepared young adults, including expertise in assessing student needs and coordinating culturally competent services.
  • Program Knowledge:
    Working knowledge of current research-based interventions for under-prepared students.
  • Collaboration:

    Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse colleagues and community partners.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work at a desk for long periods of time and operate a computer workstation and telephone.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in-person and over the telephone with a variety of people each day.
  • Occasionally carries and moves light loads up to 25 lbs.
Work Schedule

In addition to regular business hours, the person in this position must be able to be flexible around the needs of the department, which includes evening and/or weekend hours, and local/regional travel.
