Position Overview
Engineering Analyst #1045443 – Flint, Michigan. This role supports large gas distribution replacement projects by collaborating with operations, construction teams and leveraging GIS/GPS technology to manage field data and construct accurate as‑installed records.
Responsibilities- Integrate with Operations and construction teams during gas construction associated with large gas distribution replacement projects.
- Integrate Operations and construction teams into moderately complex projects, ensuring completion according to plan and leveraging equipment and technology for positional verifications.
- Support construction teams in the field, collecting as‑installed gas asset information using GPS antennas and GIS applications.
- Report to the Contractor Oversight Liaison and coordinate with Engineering personnel on large, complex distribution plastic gas main construction projects.
- Participate in meetings or demonstrations such as Operating Reviews, technology field demonstrations and pre‑construction meetings.
- Travel to job sites and project meetings; willing to work additional hours to meet deadlines.
- Perform other non‑essential duties as assigned.
- Technical understanding of natural gas distribution systems construction, design, record development, print reading and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with GIS (ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Arc Map, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps) and GPS antenna hardware/software.
- Ability to coordinate multiple project needs and priorities simultaneously.
- Understanding of surveying control practices and global positioning system (GPS) antenna usage.
- Strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills.
- Analytical thinking and willingness to learn new topics.
- Hands‑on experience with Utility Locator functions.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
- OR Associate degree with a minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
- OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of applicable work experience.
- Excavation safety (ladder safety).
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Traffic control knowledge.
- Mandatory equipment: ladders, GPS antennas, iPad, laptop, rod extensions, paint, personal protective equipment; site vehicles on and off road.
