Pain Management Medical Assistant at Insight Health Systems
Under the supervision of the acting physician, our Medical Assistants work in conjunction with staff and physicians to support the delivery of patient care second to none! The MA will take vital signs, assist the provider with our interview and care processes, treatments, delivery and transport of each patient, as directed by the physician. The Medical Assistant thrives in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment with professionals in neurology, pain management, chiropractic, podiatry and many more.
This position is cross‑trained in all clinical administrative processes, therefore the MA will also answer phones, obtain prior insurance authorizations, perform patient reminder calls, and enter information into the EMR. The MA is required to maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times. Top candidates for this role show a strength in administering fantastic customer service skills and patient care.
- Screen patients while performing and recording vital signs
- Perform data entry through Electronic Medical Record system
- Maintain medical records and patient confidentiality
- Disinfect and clean room after each patient
- Admit patients to a room and interview patient as directed
- Explain treatment to patients as needed
- Change sutures and dressings as needed
- Assist physician during exam
- Answer phone calls in a friendly manner and act as operator for the hospital
- Greet and interact with patients in a friendly and polite manner
- Perform other administrative duties such as registering patients and scheduling appointments
- Ability to multitask and move between responsibilities in a fluid manner
- Adhere to JCAHO hospital standards and policy statutes
- Monitor supplies and inventory as needed
- Demonstrated eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in healthcare-related fields.
- Previous healthcare and medical assistant experience desired.
- Must obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
- Provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and drive.
- Work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none.
- Exude respect and flexibility to impact the workplace positively.
- Work effectively with others; works well within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills for safe and effective patient care.
- Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for professional advancement.
- Prior experience and familiarity with EMRs preferred.
- Awareness of standards and performance in accordance with them.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- May be expected to lift up to 15–30 pounds with assistance; push or pull 30–100 pounds with assistance.
- Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential; optimal auditory acuity required.
- Manual dexterity involving handling of equipment and instruments or needles essential.
- Physical conditions must be clean, neat and well lit.
- May be exposed to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents; judgment needed to take precautions.
- Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes possible.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical and clinic schedule.
