Position: Registered Nurse - 12 S Telemetry

Position Summary

Responsible for assessing physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within assigned unit area and planning nursing care to meet those needs. Responsible to see that nursing care plans are carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel.

Department & Shift

Department: 12 S Telemetry

Shift: Nights (Daily Work Times: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am)

Scheduled Hours per Pay Period: 72

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Adheres to standards of nursing practice of McLaren Flint, which consists of systematic approach to nursing practice by using the nursing process.
• Assesses and documents patient’s status on admission and continuously thereafter, including procedural areas.
• Develops written plan of care, including long‑ and short-range goals and nursing actions.

Inpatient Units Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• BLS.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for units specified: 2 Central, 4 Central, CCU, ICU, PCU, ER, and 12 South.

Additional Qualifications for Specialty Units Cardiovascular Services / CVCU

• Required:
  
  Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit, step‑down unit such as 12T, 9T, 4C, PACU, etc., OR in a cardiac cath lab, OR in an emergency department.
• Required:
  
  ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience in pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths.
• Preferred:
  Knowledge of intra‑aortic balloon pumps.

Cath Lab

• Required:
  
  Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit (2C, CCU, ICU), step‑down units (4C, 9T, 12T), Emergency Department, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab or Neuro Interventional Procedures Lab.
• Required:
  
  ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab.
• Preferred: CCRN certification.

Fenton ER

• Required:
  
  Either two years of ED experience, or one year ED experience with one year critical care experience.
• Required:
  
  ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Endo / Operating Room / PACU / PAT

• Required:
  
  2 years of clinical acute care experience.
• Required:
  
  BLS certified.

Medical Imaging / Radiology

• Required:
  
  Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a critical care unit (2C/ICU/CCU/SCU), step‑down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, neuro interventional procedures lab.
• Required:
  
  Competent in starting & maintaining IVs.
• Required:
  
  Recent (within the last 3 years) experience administering & monitoring moderate sedation.
• Required:
  
  Competent to interpret 12‑lead EKG.
• Required:
  
  ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience working in MRI and Radiology setting.

Nursing Resource

• Required:
  
  Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• Required:
  
  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (excluding 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR).
• Required:
  
  Minimum of 6 months proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of the McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year.

Partial Hospitalization

• Required:
  
  ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.

LDRP

• Required:
  
  NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Required:
  
  Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire.
