Position SummaryThe Senior Network Engineer (SNE) is responsible for the design, implementation, security, operational reliability, and continuous improvement of the College's mission‑critical network infrastructure across campus and cloud environments. The SNE ensures the continual availability of the systems and services while coordinating maintenance and service windows with the College community.
The SNE functions as a subject matter expert (SME) for network technologies, supports incident response efforts, and ensures high availability of core services through proactive monitoring, structured change management, and system lifecycle planning. The SNE collaborates closely with peers across ITS, internal college stakeholders, and external partners to ensure a secure, resilient, and scalable network foundation.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThe Senior Network Engineer acts as a technical lead for network and security engineering decisions and contributes to architectural planning. The role does not have direct supervisory responsibility but may guide and mentor technical staff and coordinate work across teams during projects and incidents.
Minimum Requirements- Five (5) years experience with network infrastructure configuration and maintenance within a large network infrastructure environment.
- One (1) year experience with system administration on Linux based systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar) and Microsoft Windows based systems
Requires frequent off‑hours configuration and installation of servers, network devices, security appliances, and related components.
