Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense
Perryman Law Firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing criminal defense practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom experience, strong mentorship, and long-term growth within a firm that is intentionally scaling.
What You’ll Do- Represent clients in criminal matters from intake through resolution
- Appear in court for hearings, negotiations, and trials
- Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda
- Communicate directly with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Licensed attorney (or pending admission) in good standing
- Criminal law experience preferred, but not required
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Desire to grow with a firm—not just hold a position
- $70,000 – $100,000 base salary (DOE)

Minimum Requirements- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the state (or pending admission with imminent licensure)
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to appear confidently in court and communicate professionally with judges, prosecutors, and clients
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
- Prior experience in criminal law (public defender, prosecutor, private defense, or clinic experience preferred)
- Courtroom experience handling hearings, motions, or trials
- Client-facing experience with demonstrated professionalism and empathy
- High level of personal accountability—takes ownership of cases and outcomes
- Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to follow systems and processes while contributing to their improvement
- Ability to manage a caseload efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Commitment to excellent client communication and responsiveness
- Desire to grow long-term with a firm that is scaling
- Comfortable with increasing responsibility as skills and performance develop
- Coachable mindset—open to feedback, mentorship, and performance metrics
- Interest in developing trial skills and legal judgment over time
- Professional, ethical, and client-centered
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with staff and leadership
