Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense

Perryman Law Firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing criminal defense practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom experience, strong mentorship, and long-term growth within a firm that is intentionally scaling.

What You’ll Do
  • Represent clients in criminal matters from intake through resolution
  • Appear in court for hearings, negotiations, and trials
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda
  • Communicate directly with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
What We’re Looking For
  • Licensed attorney (or pending admission) in good standing
  • Criminal law experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Desire to grow with a firm—not just hold a position
Compensation & Benefits
  • $70,000 – $100,000 base salary (DOE)

Minimum Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the state (or pending admission with imminent licensure)
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Ability to appear confidently in court and communicate professionally with judges, prosecutors, and clients
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in criminal law (public defender, prosecutor, private defense, or clinic experience preferred)
  • Courtroom experience handling hearings, motions, or trials
  • Client-facing experience with demonstrated professionalism and empathy
