Overview
Insight Institute of Neuroscience & Neurosurgery (IINN) seeks a compassionate and team‑oriented Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Psychiatric staff in the inpatient unit. The RN provides patient care, administers medications, documents according to policy standards, delivers health education to patients, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to create an individualized treatment plan. A minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health experience is preferred.
Medical experience is also preferred but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply.
- Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care
- Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions
- Provides services in accordance with the plan of care
- Provides compassionate care to psychiatric/behavioral health patients
- Utilizes de-escalation techniques and supports patients through crises
- Administers psychotropic and medical medications
- Works as part of the treatment team to help patients achieve their goals
- Phlebotomy and laboratory requisition
- Prepares clinical documentation and progress notes in a timely manner per company policy
- Observes infection control procedures including universal precautions
- Informs personnel of changes in patient condition and needs
- Counsels patients and families
- Participates in and presents in‑service programs
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures
- Processes orders and notifies physicians of patient needs and changes in condition; completes admission and discharge documentation
- Determines the amount and type of nursing care needed for each patient
- Conducts patient care conferences for assigned patients
- Participates in peer review and performance improvement as assigned
- Provides total patient care as needed, including assistance with ADLs
- May take on‑call duty, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing and currently licensed in the state(s) of practice
- Ability to achieve CPR certification within 30 days of employment
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and superior patient care
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, drive, and the ability to work compassionately with patients and coworkers
- Respect and flexibility to positively impact the workplace
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills for safe and effective patient care and documentation
- Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for professional advancement
- Previous experience and familiarity with EMRs is preferred
- Awareness of standards and ability to perform in accordance with them
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds; up to 150 pounds with assistance; may push or pull 150–300 pounds with assistance
- Medium‑demand work with walking or standing most of the time
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity required for designated duties
- Manual dexterity for handling equipment, instruments, and needles
- Work environment includes clean, neat, well‑lit conditions
- Potential exposure to unpleasant sights, odors, stressful situations, and hazardous or infectious agents; precautions may be required
