Job DescriptionThe Account Specialist is responsible for maximizing opportunities for the product portfolio in single-layer geography. This individual will develop and maintain strategic business relationships with a wide spectrum of customers—including hospitals, IDNs, academic institutions, outpatient accounts, long‑term care facilities, government accounts, and specialty private practice—to increase patient access to portfolio products, develop new business, expand current business, and achieve geography sales goals through a solution‑oriented and collaborative approach.
Responsibilities- Advances hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum and gains prescriber commitments through effective questioning, active listening, and utilization of approved data and resources.
- Delivers on‑label presentations/sales calls to highlight product benefits and risks, creating awareness of product solutions and addressing therapeutic gaps.
- Develops professional relationships and differentiates the Anti‑Infective portfolio at all levels (C‑Suite, physicians, hospital staff, support personnel).
- Coordinates and mobilizes key stakeholders across multiple departments to align individuals on patient‑focused solutions through specialty pharmacy, specialty distribution, and buy‑and‑bill channels.
- Collaborates with Abb Vie in‑field and in‑house teams to identify, design, and adapt appropriate approaches and tactics.
- Creates, develops, executes, and monitors strategic geography business plans and allocates resources to support tactic execution.
- Sources, interprets, and utilizes key data by account to build working account profiles and relationship maps for all territory accounts.
- Attends and participates in local boards, societies, conventions, and other HCP meetings to represent Abb Vie and channel key information to internal partners.
- Completes all required training and maintains adherence to company policies, OEC/Legal procedures, and health‑care industry representative credentialing requirements.
- Proactively collaborates across multiple departments within healthcare institutions to develop compliant communication strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred; equivalent industry experience required. At least five (5) years of experience, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Account‑based selling experience (hospitals, wound care centers, infusion centers) and experience building advocacy in hospitals.
- Knowledge of formulary approval process and experience with buy‑and‑bill and specialty pharmacy products.
- Documented history of strong sales performance, consistent top performer, and advanced sales skills.
- Strong business acumen, multitasking ability, problem‑solving, and influence without authority.
- Strong planning, organization, presentation, facilitation, and learning skills.
- Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships.
- Must satisfy all applicable health‑care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements.
- The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of posting based on the job grade for this position.
