Position Available:
Full-Time Armed Security Officer at Flint Housing Commission – 3rd Shift

Schedule:

5 alternating nights per week, 8‑hour shifts scheduled between 5:30 pm and 8:00 am (40 hours per week)

Wage: $19.00/hour

• Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect criminal activity, suspicious behavior, or safety hazards.
• Control access to restricted areas by verifying identification, credentials, and permissions.
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, providing armed intervention if necessary while prioritizing de‑escalation.
• Observe and report any safety or security concerns, writing clear and accurate incident and activity reports.
• Monitor surveillance equipment, alarms, and security systems to identify potential threats or breaches.
• Liaise with law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a professional and authoritative presence.
• Enforce property rules and regulations fairly and consistently.
• Assist in emergency procedures, including evacuations or lockdowns.
• Maintain proficiency with assigned firearms and comply with all applicable laws and company policies regarding weapons handling and use of force.
• Attend and complete all required training, including firearms qualifications and refresher courses.

• 6+ months security experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid and current Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
• Must pass company pistol qualification
• Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure
• Excellent observation, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong understanding of use‑of‑force principles and de‑escalation techniques
• Physically capable of standing, walking, or driving for extended periods and responding rapidly to incidents
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and any required psychological evaluations
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance in uniform
