Position SummaryThe Fire Restoration Technician is responsible for providing fire and smoke damage restoration services, including equipment handling, customer communication, and ensuring quality control on each project. The technician will manage job sites by retrieving work orders, loading necessary supplies, and explaining the restoration process to customers. The role also involves cleaning electronics affected by fire damage, maintaining equipment and vehicles, conducting post‑job inspections, and preparing documentation for insurance reimbursement.
This position requires physical labor, adherence to safety protocols, and participation in an on‑call rotation.
- Retrieve work orders and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are loaded onto the truck before heading to the job site.
- Explain the fire restoration process and next steps to customers, using printed materials, with or without supervisor assistance.
- Complete restoration jobs following company processes, maintaining high‑quality control and urgency.
- Perform fire and smoke damage repairs, including pack‑out of contents, removing non‑salvageable materials, and light construction or demolition work as directed.
- Clean and inspect electronics affected by the fire to ensure functionality and safety.
- Ensure proper handling of equipment, supplies, and vehicles; report malfunctions or damages to the supervisor.
- Conduct post‑job inspections to ensure customer satisfaction, obtain approvals, and request payment when necessary.
- Prepare documentation and take photos in accordance with company policies to ensure proper insurance reimbursement.
- Participate in the on‑call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Required
- Strong communication skills to explain processes and next steps clearly to customers.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality control standards.
- Must be physically able to perform restoration tasks and lift heavy objects when required.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- IICRC certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
Preferred
- Previous experience in fire damage restoration or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of fire damage restoration techniques and equipment.
- IICRC certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
- OSHA 10/30/40 Certification
- Previous experience with Docu Sketch, Mica, or Restore 365
This is an in‑field position that requires frequent travel to and from active jobsites. Jobsites may contain asbestos, microbial growth, lead, or other hazardous materials; personal protective equipment or PPE will be provided.
Jobsites may or may not have electricity; expect to work in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Physical DemandsThis position will typically require the employee to stand or walk for extended periods of time and may involve heavy manual labor. Expect to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items often for this position.
