    MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, perform various job duties to maintain and/or improve roadways within Genesee County that include but are not limited to pot hole patching, traffic control, ditching, tree trimming, roadside mowing, grading, street sweeping, catch basin repair, guardrail repair, concrete slab/curb repair, culvert jetting, shouldering, fencing, and snow/ice removal (winter).

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
  • Perform manual labor, dig ditches for drainage, pothole repair, guardrail repair and installation, culvert repair and installation, tree trimming, brush control, load and unload tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Operate trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Operate heavy-duty trucks with snowplows, underbody scrapers, sand, and salt spreaders to remove ice and snow accumulation from roadways.
  • Haul and dump materials.
  • Utilize proper load/unload and securing procedures when transporting equipment as per Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) regulations, and or/as directed.
  • Track and record time, materials, supplies, and equipment used for each work project.
  • Perform traffic regulation according to the Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Devices (MMUTCD).
  • Complete Daily Pre & Post Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) detailing condition of vehicles, defects, or potential issues and promptly report any issues to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Maintain/clean assigned vehicle or equipment.
  • Understand and adhere to the Work Rules and Regulations of the GCRC.
  • An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the above examples given (these examples do not include all the duties which the employee may be expected to perform).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Must possess:
Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established policies. Ability to use good sound judgement, tact, and courtesy. A working knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in highway and road construction/maintenance. Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written communication and comprehension, critical thinking, and reasoning skills. Strong mathematical ability. Must be able to understand and apply information obtained from environment and surveys and job specifications.

Ability to maintain good interpersonal relations. Basic computer skills.

Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. Be able to reach overhead. Be able to work in various positions, including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 50 lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience required operating the following equipment:
Grader, Excavator, Front-End Loader, Backhoe, Gradall and Tandem Axle Dump Truck with snowplow. Applicants must possess a Class A CDL with “N” endorsement, a high school diploma/GED and a valid Michigan Driver’s License. A current driving record (a request date from December 16, 2025 through January 2, 2026) must be submitted to be considered. Must have transportation.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Hours may vary and are subject to call 24 hours a day for emergency and weather conditions. Starting Hourly Rate = $23.05 per hour; after one year $29.10 per hour with comprehensive benefit package included but not limited to Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, paid holidays and vacation, pension and deferred compensation.
