Primary Grade, Supervising Teacher; Kindergarten

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Primary Grade, Supervising Teacher at Kilby Laboratory School. This position is an elementary teacher in the primary grades, teaching all subjects to one class. In addition to working with elementary students, the teacher will also supervise student interns, accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom, conduct classroom research, serve on committees, and participate in other job-related activities.

The successful candidate must have a clear understanding of the Alabama Reading Initiative, Alabama Math/Science/Technology Initiative, College and Career Ready Standards, and be committed to implementing innovative practice. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the Alabama State Salary Matrix.

• Teach all subjects to one class in the primary grades, specifically Kindergarten;
• Work with elementary students;
• Supervise student interns;
• Accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom;
• Conduct classroom research;
• Serve on committees, as requested;
• Participate in other job-related activities;
• Implement innovative practices;
• Support the campus community;
• Participate in school-wide professional development;
• Engage with the parent-teacher organization (PTO);
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education is required;
• Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree is preferred;
• Three or more years of teaching experience in grades K-6 is required;
• Three years of teaching experience in grades P-6 is preferred;
• National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification is preferred;
• STEM instructional experience is preferred;
• Current, valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in elementary or early childhood education, or the ability to obtain such through reciprocity, is required.
