Summary:
The Medical Assistant is essential during patient visits, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Essential Functions:
- Rooming patients and documenting all vital information
- Scribing information for the dermatologist
- Providing post-op wound care to patients
- Drawing blood and suture removal
- Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
- Scheduling patient appointments
Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:
- Surgical photographs
- Biopsies – punch, DIF, and shave
- Excision procedures
- Electrodessication and curettage
- I&D procedures
- Mohs micrographic surgery
- Phototherapy
- Injections
- KOH preps
- Trichograms
- Tzank preps
- Dermabrasion
- Patch testing
- Blue light therapy
Education:
Minimum post-high school education in a medical support field:
Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification within the prescribed time and maintain certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
- Current on all state certifications, licenses, and registrations
- Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with staff, clients, and visitors
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team
