Full-time Nurse Manager, Labor and Delivery About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead our Labor and Delivery unit. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on maternal and newborn care in our state‑of‑the‑art 250‑bed facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and delivery nursing, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.
KeyQualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master's degree (MSN) preferred - Current RN license in good standing
- At least 5 years of work experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Proficiency in AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification and ACLS
- Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience (charge nurse, etc) in a Labor and Delivery setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality patient care
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care in accordance with hospital guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and improve departmental efficiency
- Manage staffing levels, create work schedules, and assign duties to ensure appropriate coverage and skill mix
- Conduct regular staff meetings and participate in hospital‑wide leadership meetings
- Mentor and support the professional development of nursing staff, including performance evaluations and goal‑setting
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, open communication, and staff satisfaction
- Address and resolve conflicts or issues among staff members or between staff and patients/families
- Maintain clinical competency in labor and delivery nursing, including high‑risk obstetrics and emergency situations
- Ensure staff adherence to evidence‑based practices and the latest clinical guidelines in maternal and newborn care
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of fetal monitoring protocols, including staff education and competency assessments
- Coordinate and participate in NRP training and recertification for all relevant staff members
- Stay current with advancements in obstetrical care and implement new technologies or practices as appropriate
- Provide clinical expertise and support during complex or high‑risk deliveries
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and satisfaction
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, such as patient satisfaction scores, infection rates, and clinical outcomes
- Develop and implement strategies to address areas needing improvement
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, including Joint Commission requirements
- Participate in root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent adverse events
- Promote a culture of safety and encourage staff to report near‑misses and potential safety concerns
- Collaborate with the Risk Management department to address and mitigate potential
