Job Summary
Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking observant and dependable Electricians to perform installation and restoration work in prison facilities at Arizona State Prison Complex‑Eyman. The position involves skilled electrical duties in installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of prison facilities and equipment. It offers a balanced schedule and a rewarding career.
Job Duties- Supervises and teaches inmate work crews on installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of state facilities and equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance by inspecting, cleaning, adjusting, and replacing motors, generators, batteries, pumps, belts, etc.
- Executes skilled electrical duties in the repair and service of facilities and equipment.
- Interprets and reads blueprints, schematics, drawings, and standards for electrical wiring, fixtures, and appliances installation and maintenance.
- Ensures work complies with national and local building codes.
- Inspects all electrical panels and ensures proper working condition.
- Exercises and tests all emergency transfer switches.
- Tracks work orders and purchase requests for electrical components; obtains estimates on material costs.
- Completes routine inspections.
- Makes emergency service calls.
- Drives on State business.
- Performs other duties as appropriate.
- Knowledge of: electrical remodeling, construction, installation, and replacement of major utility services; commercial electrical systems 227V, 480V, and above; using common and specialized tools; ordering and estimating materials;
Microsoft Suite for reports. - Skill in: repairing, replacing, or modifying existing services; testing electrical apparatuses with meters; operating articulating boom lift equipment; written and verbal communication; establishing interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to work in a prison environment; supervise inmate work crews on electrical repairs.
- Four (4) or more years of experience in commercial electrical industry.
- Minimum two (2) years of hands‑on training with a licensed contractor.
- One (1) year of journeyman‑level electrical experience.
- Background investigation, drug test, medical/physical examination.
- Tuberculosis (TB) test at New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
- Valid driver’s license and required driver training if driving on State business.
- Compliance with Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification (E‑Verify).
- Vacation and sick days with 10 paid holidays per year.
