English Language and Literature Teacher – Canadian School of Florence – High School
Canadian School of Florence is an international K‑12 school located in Florence, Italy, offering Ontario curriculum high‑school programmes and a dual diploma. We are recruiting a passionate, dedicated English teacher to plan, deliver and evaluate English language, literature and EAL courses for high‑school students.

Teaching and Learning

Responsibilities

Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting are of the highest quality and meet students’ varying learning and social needs.

Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel comfortable expressing views, opinions and needs.

Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach and assess effectively, and take active responsibility for student progress.

Use tracking, monitoring and intervention processes to advance student learning.

Communicate effectively to school stakeholders, acting as an ambassador at all times.

Take personal responsibility for professional development.

Be flexible and adapt to the school’s needs, actively contributing to its development.

Ensure school policies are understood and followed consistently.

Qualifications
Education & Training:

Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent).

Qualified to teach middle‑school students in English.

Experience or knowledge in EAL and language acquisition.

Experience:

Proven experience teaching high school.

Creative, passionate and strong work ethic.

Experience with innovative teaching and learning.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, negotiation and mediation skills.

Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, academic and co‑curricular directions.

Enthusiastic, energetic and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students.

Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment.

The School
Canadian School of Florence is a K‑12 institution with students ranging from 3 to 18. The lower primary campus (Pre‑Kindergarten to Grade
3) is in San Domenico, Fiesole. Upper primary (Grades 4 &
6) and middle school (Grades 7‑8) are nearby. Senior School (Grades 9‑12) is in Florence, in a historic building less than 2 km from the junior school.

All courses are taught in English (except Italian and French), based on the Canada (Ontario) curriculum, with preparation for Italian national exams as a “paritaria” school. Students work toward an Ontario Secondary School Diploma recognised worldwide. A dual high‑school diploma – Liceo delle Scienze Umane – is also available.
