For a Pharmaceutical Company, we are seeking a highly motivated and talented SCIENTIST to join our Infectious Disease team with expertise in viral or bacterial infections, to progress new interventions to tackle infectious diseases. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to support drug discovery projects through pre‑clinical evaluation and mechanism of action work, and supporting filing/launching of new drugs.
The candidate will have the ability to work across boundaries and collaborate both scientifically and technically in a global environment. Responsibilities
Conduct in vitro and/or in vivo experiments to investigate the biology, pathogenesis, and therapeutic interventions for viral or bacterial infections using a variety of molecular and cellular techniques, including viral and/or microbial assays, gene expression analysis, cell culture and related functional assays.
Design and execute experiments to evaluate the activity or efficacy of potential therapeutic candidates for antimicrobials. Follow established protocols and procedures, ensuring accurate and reliable data generation. The Scientist may also develop novel assays to address biological questions pertinent to project teams.
Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and scientific tools.
Maintain accurate records of experiments and results in electronic laboratory notebooks and/or be compliant with Company record‑keeping rules.
Develop and maintain understanding of virology, microbiology, immunology, and pathogenesis.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including virologists, microbiologists, immunologists, medicinal chemists, and clinicians to support the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for infectious diseases.
Prepare scientific reports and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals. Present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
Minimum Requirements
MS with 2‑4 years of experience in a research setting with a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, or related field.
Proficiency in a range of molecular and cellular techniques, such as bacterial and/or viral, immunological, and/or microbial assays, gene expression analysis, cellular imaging, qPCR, ELISA, RNA/DNA transfection and functional assays.
Experience in handling primary cell and clinical samples in compliance with HBMS standards.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, utilizing statistical methods and scientific software (e.g., Graph Pad Prism, Excel).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
