Senior Automation Engineer

Senior Automation Engineer (Firmware/Embedded) - Freelance | Florence  For a tech company in the payment systems sector, we’re looking for a freelance Senior Automation Engineer specialized in firmware and embedded testing, to ensure the quality of products such as Outdoor Payment Terminals (OPT) and forecourt controllers.

What you’ll do:

Define test strategy and test plans from business requirements
Design and execute automated tests on firmware, hardware-software integration and low-level embedded software
Develop test software to automate regression testing and performance benchmarks
Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines for faster releases
Document test plans, results and releases, managing issue tracking and versioning
Requirements (essential):
5+ years of experience in hardware-software testing/development with structured methodologies
3+ years with Java or C++
Degree in engineering/electronics
Experience in firmware testing, hardware-software integration and validation of low-level embedded software
Test automation frameworks (e.g. TestNG)
Hands-on CI/CD (Jenkins, Git Lab CI)
Proficiency in Linux (commands and scripting)
Agile methodology
Nice to have:  retail petroleum/payments sector, EMV/PCI DSS and cryptography, API testing (Postman, REST Assured) on middleware.
Logistics:  freelance collaboration via Shakers. Florence (Osmannoro), on-site. Occasional travel may be required.
