The Preconstruction Estimator has a key role in Cooper Steel’s preconstruction process, responsible for accurately projecting realistic costs while keeping costs low, maximizing profits, and maintaining strong business integrity. Analytical and detail‑oriented, the estimator must communicate with customers, collaborate with internal teams, and multitask.

• 2‑5 years of experience in preconstruction estimating and a bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Fluent and comfortable with Microsoft Excel and adept at learning new software quickly
• Analytical and wired to problem‑solve
• Communication‑driven, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently
• Interest in construction, preferably with previous construction experience
• Detail‑oriented and exceptional in time management, able to multitask, maintain organization, and meet deadlines under pressure
• Flexible and unafraid to ask questions or share ideas

• Analyze costs and budgets for construction projects
• Provide accurate estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and coordinators to develop project plans and prepare and submit bids and proposals
• Review and analyze project specifications and drawings
• Identify potential cost savings and value‑engineering opportunities
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
