POSITION SUMMARY
Material Handler Specialist
Location: USA – Florence, 2505 Ted Bushelman Blvd.
As the Shipping/Receiving Clerk (S/R), the role carries out customer service activities promptly and courteously. Key responsibilities include timely and accurate handling of customer orders in compliance with DSV Work Instructions and customer requirements, including input of information concerning orders, shipments, receipts, and physical inventories.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Process all customer orders accurately and promptly.
- Generate all related paperwork and necessary information required for customer orders, checking all orders for special requests and shipping paperwork.
- Coordinate special, last‑minute shipping requests with the operation department, expediting any order as necessary.
- Prioritize customer orders according to scheduled pick‑up time or pier cutoff.
- Furnish shipping and tracking information as required.
- Maintain good working relationship with customers by responding to all inquiries concerning receipts, shipments, inventory counts, etc., in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Report customer feedback to management, including any signs of customer dissatisfaction.
- Oversee all paperwork associated with orders and maintain the corresponding files.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date DSV Work Instructions Manual.
- Answer phone calls and operate various types of office machines and computers necessary to perform duties.
- Operate the computer terminal proficiently, entering and verifying data relating to customer orders, shipments, receipts, adjustments, etc., accurately and timely.
- Ensure accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents.
- Gather and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Collect all documentation for inbound freight and route to the proper record‑keeping unit.
- Comply with all DSV Work Instructions.
- Perform other clerical duties, including backup support as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED. - Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months ranging from mild to moderate.
- Computer
Skills:
Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Suites. - Language
Skills:
English (reading, writing, verbal). - Mathematical
Skills:
Basic level. - Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous customer service experience including phone calls and operating office equipment.
- Occasional bending.
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Constant sitting.
- Lifting 11‑20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, squatting or kneeling.
The job rarely exposes the employee to fumes or toxic chemicals. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
