This part-time position will provide community health education classes to rural and disadvantaged populations in the North Central Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC) 16-county service area.

Job Duties- Gives informal counseling and guidance on health behaviors.
- Advocates for individual and community health needs, and provides some direct services such as first aid and blood pressure screening.
- Promotes tobacco cessation and prevention services, and other health-related programs.
- Participates in community health education events, and all appropriate Area Health Education (AHEC) outreach events and programs.
- Provides basic health education through individual encounters and focus groups, community health presentations.
- Assess participants needs and concerns; as they relate to their family, their community and their health, and provide health information and education.
- Plans and leads group sessions and discussions on assigned health topics.
- Makes referrals/Shares community resources to family support, health, and social services agencies in the area.
- Attends conferences as directed and/or assigned.
- Assists in completing other programs goals and requirements/as needed.
- Promotes health professions programs at Gateway.

- High School Diploma
- 1 year experience
- Bilingual, Spanish
- English - Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing his/her self in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
- Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
- Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
- Associate or Bachelor
- 5 years experience
- CPR and Frist Aid certification, Certified Community Health Worker
