Shot Peen Operator

A Shotpeen Machine Operator is responsible for a large amount of tasks and equipment in the Coil Springs business unit. This includes working with robots, on the oven, on the shotpeen machine, secondary peening and both hotset and coldest equipment. This position has a lot of diversity in the position and a lot of troubleshooting issues that you will need to learn to resolve.

• Use of a fork truck
• Use of tools such as gauges, Allen wrenches, etc.
• Self sufficiency
• Perform changeovers
• On feet for extended amount of time
• Mechanically included decision making
• Performing changeovers
• Working off-shift
• Paperwork

• Ability to read, write and understand job documentation
• Physical coordination to lift and move product
• Trainable with fork lift truck
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
• Math ability, including conversions (English & Metric units)
• Ability to read, use and understand measuring devices to .1mm
• Ability to understand machine computer functions
  
  Trainable with CNC, PLC controls and SPC documentation
• Ability to load material, perform changeovers, make needed adjustments during production and tooling changes on the hot setting and cold setting device as well as the stress peener and laser marking unit
• Knowledge of HPP equipment and tools, procedures including their designs, uses and benefits
• Ability to make a rough fault analysis
