Senior Laboratory Technician

Job Title Analytical Technician Shift Mon -Fri 8:00am-4:30pmPosition Description This hands-on Analytical Technician position will be responsible for carrying out analytical testing to support company divisions. The individual should have basic understanding of general chemistry, analytical chemistry, and organic chemistry, and some hands-on experience with analytical techniques, including microscopy, thermal analysis, rheology analysis, spectroscopy and wet chemistry.

Roles Responsibilities
• Prepare samples
• Carry out routine analytical procedures
• Analyze data and prepare reports for internal customers
• Perform minor equipment maintenance/troubleshooting
• Effectively communicate with internal customers and global lab team members
• Follow written SOPs
• Ensure compliance with standardized methods (ISO, ASTM, VDA, etc.)Skills
• BS in Chemistry, Material Science, or related field
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret data and provide complete/thorough presentations/reports
• Experience with engineering polymers or plastics
• Ability to pro-actively design methods to meet customer needs
• Ability to identify potential sources of error in an experiment and implement controls to mitigate them
• Effective communication - both verbal and written
• Strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practice and chemical handling
• Ability to organize, keep detailed documentation/records, and achieve timely, accurate results
• Ability to make minor repairs to lab equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be part of a team
• Ability to manage projects and competing priorities
• Must strive for continuous improvement
• Must be energetic, self-motivated
• Knowledge of polymeric materials and their properties
• Comfortable handling chemicals
• Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as light microscopy, SEM, EDS, KF, FTIR, TGA, and DSC
• Ability to identify the appropriate analytical technique to troubleshoot when presented with a problem
• Knowledge of polymer structure-processing-performance relationship
• Fluency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and statistical software
• Experience with DOE's, method validation (R&R) demonstration
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
• Experience managing projects and balancing competing priorities Education
• BS in Chemistry, Material Science, or related field
