Job Description

Position begins 25/26 school year. Salary Schedule is based on the  school year.

This is a 10-month/renewable position and includes benefits of paid medical and leave. New hires typically begin at Step 1 on the Salary Schedule. All offers of employment are contingent upon board approval and the applicant’s satisfactory completion of a drug screening test (including marijuana), background and reference checks. TITLE:

Educational Classroom Aide (General Ed) at Siuslaw Middle School, .875 FTE (7 hours per day), 8am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday (includes 30 minute lunch)

Primary Function

Classroom Aides are assigned by the district to assist the teacher in clerical and student supervision duties. The classroom aide is directly responsible to the classroom teacher based on the assignment level by the district.

Classroom Teacher and Building Principal

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • NCLB Highly Qualified
  • Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
  • Experience with Special Needs children preferred
  • Experience in a classroom setting preferred
Assigned Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during lunch and/or recess periods as assigned by the principal
  • Correct papers for the classroom teacher
  • Duplicate papers for the teachers
  • Type tests, daily work and other communications for the classroom teacher which are directly related to the instructional program
  • Laminate materials for the teacher
  • Gather and prepare special materials for the teacher’s instructional program
  • Assist with supervising field trips if scheduling allows
  • Work with individuals and small groups as assigned by the teacher; follow prepared and organized instructions for individuals and small groups
  • Keep accurate and detailed records as instructed by the teacher
  • Assist with movement of students between areas
  • Assist with or report student injuries
  • Prepare classroom bulletin boards under the teacher’s supervision
  • Maintain an orderly and appropriate educational environment
  • Maintain open lines of communication with classified staff, licensed staff, and support personnel
  • Takes health and safety precautions for students and protects equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with building administrators and staff
  • Other related duties as assigned

Conditions

This is a classified 10-month position.

Salary

Will be determined by terms of the current negotiated agreement. The amount due under the contract may be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.
