Francis Marion University and the Office of Admissions invite applications for the position of Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of advanced secretarial or administrative duties for the Office of Admissions, primarily as receptionist for the front office answering multiple lines and greeting the public. The successful candidate will exercise judgment in the application of established office policies and procedures concerning admissions requirements, including, but not limited to applications for new students, re‑admittance of students, computer access, telephone inquiries, and related duties such as:
- Must be able to communicate with the public in person and on the telephone
- Assists with marketing the University to prospective students by coordinating campus visits and arranging or conducting campus tours
- Responsible for the accurate data entry of all admissions inquiries and applications
- Maintains a monthly inventory of all admissions brochures and forms; orders new material as the need arises
- Must be able to work on weekends to assist with Open House or similar activities as needed and required
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
FMU PreferencesHigh school graduate with two years of secretarial experience, or an associate degree in secretarial science or another related field. Must be proficient and accurate in data entry and have excellent communication skills both oral and written. Knowledge of software packages desired and ability to operate various office machines.

Normal Working Hours8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday). Summer hours will vary.
