Health Careers Program Coordinator - Pee Dee Area Health Education Center
We are seeking a Health Careers Program Coordinator to identify and recruit culturally-diverse students for healthcare careers, design and implement programs, collaborate with community partners, and support data-driven program evaluation within Pee Dee AHEC.
OverviewMaintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Works with regional AHEC staff to achieve Pee Dee AHEC goals and maintain program records and data.
Responsibilities- Identify culturally-diverse high school and college students with an interest in healthcare careers.
- Design, identify, and implement programs to attract and recruit minority and/or disadvantaged students to health professions.
- Facilitate programs and activities that promote awareness of healthcare options (e.g., Career Fairs and Career Awareness Presentations).
- Identify and collaborate with community partners to enhance the Health Careers Program mission and provide opportunities for students to learn about healthcare careers.
- Monitor program effectiveness through activity and program evaluations.
- Collaborate with Pee Dee AHEC core service staff to meet Pee Dee AHEC goals.
- Interact and communicate with diverse stakeholders (center director, regional and statewide staff, students, parents, faculty, practitioners, advisory groups, vendors, community organizations, and the public).
- Maintain regional database regarding program activity and outcomes.
- Comply, track, and evaluate data pertaining to minority and/or disadvantaged students entering the healthcare field.
- Market Health Career Program services through community partnerships, website updates, articles, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the SC AHEC Health Professions Student Council to provide exploration and professional development experiences for students before entry into health professions programs.
- Attend regional, statewide, and national meetings as required.
- Maintain regional program records and evaluations, prepare correspondence and reports, enter/retrieve data in the SC AHEC computerized database, and respond to inquiries related to the program.
- Coordinate workforce pipeline strategies for baccalaureate and high school students using shadow and internship experiences.
- Other duties as assigned.
80 hours bi-weekly
Qualifications / Training- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of health professions education programs and healthcare systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access), Constant Contact, and Citrix applications.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certification preferred.
- Strong software and hardware computer skills; scheduling, organizing, analysis and evaluation techniques.
- Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Clerical skills with emphasis on resource management.
