- Responsibilities include those listed in the competency document.
- Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers, in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
- Convey the message of the Service Excellence Standards, Value of Caring, Value of the Person, and Value of Quality and Integrity in every interaction.
- Accurately interpret and enter medication orders into the computer for drug administration.
- Ensure medications are dispensed and delivered promptly.
- Check medications, including IVs, carts, and kits, before dispensing.
- Serve as a drug information resource for the healthcare team.
- Promote the safe and effective use of automated medication dispensing systems, infusion pump technologies, remote temperature monitoring systems, eMAR, and other hospital pharmacy technologies.
- Follow hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures, including medication-related policies located in the patient care manual.
- Contact providers promptly regarding medication order concerns such as drug interactions, allergies, or reconciliation issues.
- Ensure proper medication charging and crediting.
- Adhere to state and federal laws regarding medication dispensing and comply with regulatory standards.
- Work as a team with a positive attitude, interacting with pharmacy staff, students, residents, and other hospital personnel.
- Maintain knowledge of medications and exhibit clinical and professional skills in interactions with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate services.
- Assist in training and educating pharmacy residents, students, and technicians.
- Handle customer issues, complaints, and questions to build trust and loyalty.
Qualifications/Training:
- Prior job-related experience
- Ability to work independently
Licenses/Certifications/Education:
- Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in South Carolina
