Responsibilities- Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management computer system
- Conduct screening procedures: taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks
- Perform finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit and total protein testing using screening equipment; monitor the electronic donor questionnaire system
- Determine donor eligibility by performing donor eligibility assessments, including medical history interview, physical examination, educating donor on donor testing, HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary
- Provide counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Initiate and assist in donor investigations regarding post donation information
- Evaluate and attend to donor adverse events during the donation process
- Follow all standard operating procedures for all medical emergencies, communicate with the Center Medical Director, and coordinate donor transport to emergency medical care facilities
- Learn and maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with all state and federal regulations, Standard Operating Procedure Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures
- Maintain an open line of communication with management
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with donors, fellow employees, and vendors
- Accept performance feedback in a professional manner
- Show regular attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one (1) year work experience preferred
- Actively licensed or certified in the state where performing duties:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, or Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA) - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret directions and instructions
- Perform basic math calculations
- Basic computer skills
- Reasoning ability to identify, interpret and apply appropriate information
