Associate Vice President & Senior Director of Engineering Markets – NJ/NY Region

Matrix New World Engineering, a part of True Environmental, is seeking a senior civil, structural, and/or geotechnical engineer to lead business development and project execution in central and northern New Jersey and New York. This high‑impact role requires a seasoned professional who excels at building client relationships, leading technical delivery, and cultivating teams.

What You’ll Do

• Lead market leadership and business development in NJ and NY by identifying opportunities and cultivating relationships with public agencies, municipalities, developers, and consultants.

• Drive proposal development and pursuit strategy for infrastructure, land development, and municipal projects.

• Represent Matrix at industry events and client meetings across the NJ/NY metro.

• Champion a client‑first mindset, ensuring long‑term partnerships and repeat business.

• Build and inspire high‑performing teams through mentorship, collaboration, and shared purpose.

• Serve as Project Manager for civil engineering projects you help bring in, overseeing design, permitting, and construction phases with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Matrix’s service lines.

• Act as a technical leader in civil/site engineering, stormwater, grading, and utility design, guiding junior staff and fostering continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s a plus).

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

• 10+ years of experience in civil/site engineering and project management.

• Proven track record as a seller‑doer with strong client relationships in NJ and/or NY (NYC agency experience and relationships a plus, as well as regional and national client base).

• Deep understanding of state, municipal, and county regulations.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
