Manager, MPF Government Relations

Reworld™ is working to develop and construct new Materials Processing Facilities (MPFs) across North America to bring our sustainable waste solutions closer to customers. These facilities accept and treat non‑hazardous waste and wastewater to prepare it for reuse, recycling or energy recovery. By helping customers move materials up the waste hierarchy, MPFs reduce greenhouse gas footprints.

As a Manager, MPF Government Relations you will work closely with the Director of MPF Government Relations to guide local approvals and support regulatory initiatives for new MPF sites. Your role involves:

  • Identifying, analyzing, and articulating policy risks and opportunities to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Leveraging Reworld’s relationships with public and private sector stakeholders to craft government affairs strategies.
  • Managing outside consultants to communicate our message and build relationships.
  • Developing strategies to secure approvals in local jurisdictions.
  • Organizing tours for local officials and regulators.
  • Drafting briefings, testimony, and regulatory filings based on multi‑stakeholder input.
  • Collaborating with advocacy organizations and industry groups to support the local approval process.
  • Working cross‑functionally with MPF development, communications, environmental permitting specialists to execute approval strategies.
  • Traveling to proposed MPF sites and occasionally to Reworld’s headquarters in Morristown, NJ.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 5+ years of political, policy, or regulatory experience; waste sector experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of policies related to waste, energy, greenhouse gases, and environmental permitting.
  • Experience engaging with elected officials and environmental agencies.
  • Proficient with governmental and regulatory processes.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with an aptitude for analyzing complex policy/regulatory issues and assessing political nuances.
  • Adept at finding creative solutions, providing concise, business‑focused advice, and making sound risk‑based judgments under tight deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated with a collaborative work style.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing and juggling multiple projects at once.
