Position: Key Account Manager - Central, NJ

Key Account Manager - Central, NJ – Shionogi Inc. (U.S.)

The KAM position is focused on establishing access and demand for a novel hospital antibiotic product to hospitals and hospital systems within an assigned territory. You will educate formulary decision makers, key stakeholders, and clinicians on the clinical benefits of the product and help secure formulary adoption in the institutional IV antibiotic space. You will be responsible for formulary access and sales at the top institutions in the U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Establish clinical understanding and demand within , pharmacists, and microbiology community for target accounts.
  • Promote product in the geographical area by navigating the institutional formulary approval process and educating customers on appropriate use of products.
  • Leverage the access landscape to establish/expand institutional product access through engagement with Pharmacy Directors, s, , Microbiologists, and other key customers.
  • Effectively call on and educate physicians and stakeholders through one‑on‑one meetings, presentations, and educational programs.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of hospital practices including formulary management and pharmaceutical product review.
  • Build professional relationships and maintain a communication network with customers at multiple levels.
  • Create product education opportunities while enhancing Shionogi’s image and commitment to medicine.
  • Ensure high level of call and field productivity; meet and exceed call plans with five full‑time days in the field each week.
  • Collaborate with Regional Account Management, Market Access Leadership, Medical Affairs, and Marketing on opportunities, KOL touchpoints, and formulary changes.
  • Identify and communicate field issues, opportunities, and competitive activities through appropriate channels.
  • Achieve formulary adoption goals within territory while adhering to ethical practices and regulations.
  • Execute brand strategies to ensure consistent company marketing message.
  • Analyze territory information to develop effective account plans, optimize routing, and maximize field resources.
  • Accurately report field activities, expenses, and submit written reports by deadlines.
  • Develop positive and interactive relationships with peers, customers, and company managers.
  • Perform company business in compliance with all regulations (i.e., PDMA/Sample), policies, and procedures.
  • Pursue continuous learning and professional development in sales, communication, managed care, and product knowledge.
  • Appropriately manage and maintain all company equipment and promotional materials.
  • Attend all company‑sponsored meetings as directed (POAs, national meetings, conventions). In‑person attendance may be required.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum five (5) years successful sales experience in the hospital environment; anti‑infective experience preferred.
  • Must complete all relevant training and certify in product knowledge within reasonable time.
  • Strong understanding of hospital product purchasing, ordering, administration, formularies, and reimbursement.
  • Ability to navigate hospital systems to gain access to key decision makers.
  • Experience building rapport and relationships in institutional settings to expand product awareness and utilization.
  • Track record of successful facilitation of educational programs.
  • Ability to communicate clinical data to demonstrate competence of a high‑level scientific product.
  • Hospital antibiotic launch experience is a plus.
  • Experience establishing hospital product formulary approval through P&T committees within IV antibiotic or related category.
  • Experience coordinating account‑related events.
  • Business‑to‑business experience and strong influencing skills.
  • Documented record of performance and achievement.
