Florida Power & Light Company is the largest electric utility in the U.S., providing reliable energy to nearly 12 million Floridians. This position is located at Turkey Point Fossil Plant in Homestead, Florida and will travel the state to support fleet outages. Normal schedule during non‑outage is a day shift Monday‑Friday; overtime averages 400–800 hours per year. Personnel are expected to work weekends as needed.

This non‑shift classification works a regular day shift and performs mechanical maintenance on plant equipment under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman.
Accountabilities- Operate all types of power and machine tools, hand tools, and equipment to maintain a safe, clean, and productive workplace.
- Use precision tools when required.
- Maintain inventory of plant mechanical materials, supplies, tools, and spare parts.
- Perform preventive and minor maintenance to ensure proper function of plant equipment.
- Perform major maintenance, construction, demolition, removal, installation, repair, and replacement of plant mechanical equipment and structures.
- Perform associated responsibilities according to the safe work practices handbook and the Memorandum of Agreement.
- Previously held classification of mechanic, and/or successfully completed the joint apprentice program for mechanic or equivalent.
- Plant Maintenance Position Selection System Test passed.
- Valid driver’s license (non‑CDL).
- Dual craft certification.
- Welder certification (PGD).
