The Chief Housekeeper is responsible for overall cleanliness, sanitation and upkeep of all passenger cabins and public areas while maintaining compliance with all company and regulatory entities.

  • Collaborate with all departments concerning housekeeping initiatives.
  • Manage Housekeeping and Porter crews to ensure passenger accommodations and public areas are clean and maintained to company standards.
  • Ensures operating procedures complies with all state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of all passenger and housekeeping supplies.
  • Manages laundry - assures all necessary supplies are available to housekeeping personnel.
  • Maintain housekeeping budget.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of departmental training and performance appraisal programs.
  • Work with Hotel Manager to develop action plans to address areas of concern.
  • Communicate all housekeeping special services and special occasion requests.
  • Inspect passenger rooms daily for preventative maintenance, needed repairs and to ensure company standards are being met.
  • Communicate repair and maintenance needs to engineering. Follow up to ensure service was performed.
  • Closely monitor laundry production to maintain workflow.
  • Inspect public areas and direct porter staff throughout the day to ensure cleaning per checklists.
  • Supervise and assist in moving luggage on and off the vessel per TSA regulations.
  • Coordinate shore side laundry services.
  • Ensure capability of uniform repair (some inventory) to ensure all staff is properly attired in uniforms of good condition.
  • Maintain chemical and supplies orders ensuring proper usage and compliance.
  • Maintain MSDS book.
  • Prepare housekeeping recommendations for annual lay-up and capital budget.
  • Maintain proper inventories and provide monthly inventory in timely and accurate manner.
  • Make hospitality standards an important part of day-to-day duties
  • Participate and ensure participation of all USCG mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed
  • Performs other duties if required since above stated describe only a regular working day and may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results.
