Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Scan Operator on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures.

This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Using a Radio Frequency (RF) or barcode scanner to log the arrival of products, materials, or supplies into the warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Greet and direct drivers to the appropriate areas. Communicate with drivers to resolve issues and gather necessary information.
  • Comparing the information on the physical packing slips, bills of lading, or purchase orders with the actual items received to ensure accuracy of quantity, type, and quality.
  • Visually inspect all incoming shipments for any damages, defects, or discrepancies. Report any issues immediately.
  • Assist drivers with their needs and provide basic customer service.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with drivers and other staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe space.
  • Manage the flow of traffic in the weighing area. Monitor the premises for any unauthorized individuals to ensure security.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on the scan equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and accurately.
  • Assist with daily recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Adhere to all standard operation procedures, safety guidelines and best practices on the job.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by supervisor.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a safety-first mindset are essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment
  • Involves split time between indoor work and outdoor work, with a greater part of the day spent outside.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and various weather conditions when directing traffic.
  • Ability to stand for extended period.
