We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team at SIRIS to support a construction project for the Electronic Health Record Modernization infrastructure upgrade at the VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida. The Construction Inspector will report to the Program Director and collaborate closely with VA client staff to monitor work progress, ensure compliance with specifications, and document quality and safety standards on all aspects of the project.

Responsibilities

The Construction Inspector will be responsible for performing daily inspections of ongoing construction activities, verifying compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes. This role will maintain thorough documentation, coordinate with contractors to address deficiencies, and assist in ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The inspector will also track project progress and support conflict resolution with accurate reporting.

A summary of the major tasks is below:

  • Perform daily on-site inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Document discrepancies, deficiencies, or code violations, and work with contractors to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, photographs, and records of site activities.
  • Verify that materials, equipment, and workmanship meet quality standards.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders for compliance and accuracy.
  • Monitor safety practices and compliance with site-specific safety plans, OSHA, and VA requirements.
  • Track progress against the project schedule and report deviations or delays.
  • Assist in the resolution of construction-related disputes by providing detailed documentation and observations.
  • Participate in punch list inspections and verify completion of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to address field issues promptly.
Required Qualifications

Licensing:
None required; certifications in inspection, construction quality management, or safety preferred.

Education:

Associates Degree or graduate of an accredited Trade School or formal construction apprenticeship program. Educational requirement may be substituted by 10 years of directly related experience

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of construction inspection experience, preferably on healthcare or federal projects.

Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, codes, and safety regulations.

Ability to interpret Construction Contract Documents including technical specifications and drawings.

Proficiency in maintaining detailed inspection documentation and using standard inspection tools and technology.
