First Baptist Church of Umatilla is looking for a Communications Director to help tell the story of what God is doing in the church and keep people informed, connected, and engaged. This person will lead communications across all of the church’s ministries, from the website, emailer, and social media to printed pieces and Sunday announcements. The role is about 30 hours a week of hands-on design and execution, and about 10 hours of strategy, so the church needs someone who can build the plan and also do the work.

The Communications Director will report to the Executive Pastor and serve alongside a staff that is relaxed, close, and glad to help each other.

* Key Responsibilities:

*** Build a clear communications plan that fits the mission and values of FBC Umatilla and keeps every ministry speaking with one voice.
* Create the workflow for how requests come in, get approved, and go out, including timelines and lead times that ministries can count on.
* Keep the website, event pages, weekly emailer, and e-bulletin accurate and current every week.
* Plan and post social media content that points people to what is happening at the church.
* Design graphics, flyers, signage, and seasonal printed pieces, since the church still leans on paper.
* Sit down with ministry leaders, listen well to what they need, and turn it into something that works.
* Plan communications for major events, sermon series, and seasonal campaigns well ahead of time.
* Celebrate what God has done after an event with “praises,” such as a post or a short testimony video.
* Support Sunday communication, including stage announcements and seasonal graphics.
* Design custom video thumbnails for You Tube and the church’s digital platforms.
* Lead and encourage the volunteer creative team of photographers and videographers, and coordinate any contract help.
* Manage the equipment, software, and workflows that communications depends on.
* Help plan and budget for communications resources.### About First Baptist Church of Umatilla First Baptist Church of Umatilla is a big church in a small town. About 2,400 people worship there on Sunday mornings, and that grows by a couple of hundred or more when the Winter residents return. Umatilla has a population of about 5,000 to 6,000, so on a Sunday, the church is roughly half the town.

People drive in from Ocala, Orlando, Winter Garden, Daytona, and many places in between. Folks are sometimes surprised to find a church like this out in Umatilla, and the church is grateful for what the Lord is doing there.

Life at FBC Umatilla is full all week. On Wednesday nights, about 300 to 350 children and 300 middle and high schoolers are on campus, along with ten to twelve adult Bible studies, for roughly 1,000 people. It is a Southern Baptist church that is very Bible-centered and open about its convictions.

The church is in Lake County, near Eustis, Tavares, and Mount Dora, around the Harris Chain of Lakes. Boating, fishing, and kayaking are part of life, traffic is light, and Orlando is about an hour away. The area is growing, so new subdivisions are becoming part of the picture.

The staff is relaxed; they laugh a lot and care about each other. The church values consistency and relationships, and it is open to new ideas. Right now, FBC Umatilla is light on process, and the right person will see helping to build it as the fun part.
