Position: Casual Labor Billing Specialist I
Location: Lecanto

Job Overview

This is a Casual Labor position, and the duration is no longer than 6 months.

The Casual Labor Billing Specialist I provides direct customer service to customers and patrons. Ensures timely and accurate billing of customer utility services. The schedule for this casual labor position will be part-time, Monday through Friday and no more than 29 hours per week. This position is located in Lecanto, Florida.

Responsibilities
  • Answers telephone and assists callers or direct to appropriate personnel, directs visitors as needed.
  • Assists the public by answering inquires or directing issues to proper staff.
  • Opens/Closes work orders in the County database management system and the billing system with thorough and accurate information.
  • Assists with daily service interruption activities on delinquent accounts.
  • Responds to calls regarding leaks by generating work orders and dispatching field staff.
  • Receives payments, posts and reconciles transactions in utility billing software.
  • Reconciles cash drawer and prepares batches for daily deposits.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable rates, fees, and payment options.
  • Assists customers with opening and closing of utility accounts.
  • Makes adjustments on final accounts for checks.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior customer service and cash handling experience.
  • Utility billing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with Hansen a plus.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
  • Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Licenses
  • Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle.
Physical Requirements /Work Environment
  • Requires sitting most of the day.
  • The job involves occasionally lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • The job requires frequent balancing, twisting and occasional bending and kneeling.
  • The job requires the completion of tasks that involve typing, simple grasping, fine manual manipulation.
  • The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities
  • All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
