Architectural Drafter

Overview

Custom metal fabrication business in Sarasota with 20 years of experience. Specializing in the fabrication of metal products for residential and commercial industries, including spiral stairs, floating stairs, railings, awnings, and more. Seeking a skilled designer/draftsman to create product drawings and oversee jobs from start to finish. Ability to meet with clients in the field to review specifications and requirements. CAD drafting fabrication documents for customer approval and fabrication team.

• Set up meetings with construction managers and homeowners.
• Perform technical field measurements using lasers, tape measures, and angle finders. Produce clean drafts and measurements in the field for design software.
• Produce accurate shop drawings for product approvals.
• Draft plans with accurate measurements for the fabrication team.
• Maintain an advanced skill level in 3D modeling software. Provide current software and experience levels upon request.
• Supervise/monitor/assist on construction methods or measurements by working with the fabrication team.
• Create material lists for ordering products based on shop drawings.
• Order the proper materials for manufacturing the job.
• Input updates into the production schedule and adjust as jobs progress through design, approval, fabrication, and installation phases.
• Attend weekly meetings with staff to oversee production schedule.
• Visit construction sites and climb ladders as needed.

Must be a team player, self-directed, and highly motivated with experience in the construction and/or metal fabrication field. Creative mindset and the ability to produce new designs to fit project requirements.

• Summary

Lead Designer will be integral to the design and drafting process within our fabrication projects, reporting to the lead fabricator and field operations. Core skills in CAD, schematics, and drafting will be essential in creating precise technical drawings. Proficiency with software such as Solid Works, Fusion, and Sketch Up is preferred. Relevant experience in the construction field will enhance collaboration with project teams to ensure designs meet industry standards and project specifications.
