C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center's Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Psychiatry). Qualifications
:

• United States Citizenship:
  Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
• The degree must have been obtained from one of the VA approved schools for the year in which the course of study was completed
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any US state, territory, or Commonwealth
• Residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
• Board certification in Psychiatry is preferred
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Physical requirements:
  
  Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019; position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs

Duties
:

• This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program and offers a comprehensive total rewards package
• Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post‑deployment combat Veterans
• Conducts patient care services through face‑to‑face and telehealth mediums
• Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions, including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders
• Serves as a mental health team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults and triage of specialty clinic referrals
• Participates in team meetings, treatment planning conferences, and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Supervises and teaches in the psychiatric residency program and medical students
• Works Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with potential for shift work as needed
