Responsibilities- The Department of Geography at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in physical geography with a focus on climate science.
- Research interests include climate variability and change, climate extremes, interactions of climate with Earth-environmental systems, and climate impacts on Earth surface processes such as water resources, ecosystems, and agriculture.
- Use of diverse research methods and tools is welcome, including field-based approaches, remote sensing, and modeling.
- Maintain an active research program that yields publications and external grant submissions.
- Demonstrate high-quality teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Contribute to building and maintaining a strong, healthy, and thriving department community.
- Teach courses that complement and strengthen the existing curriculum in physical geography, including those relevant to environmental field methods; contribute to programs offering a bachelor’s degree in Geography, a bachelor’s degree in Environment and Society, master’s degrees in Geography and Geographic Information Science, and a Ph.D. in Geography.
- Teaching responsibilities include introductory undergraduate core science courses and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Teaching assignment is two courses per semester during the 9-month academic year.
