Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time grant‑funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist, Okeechobee, FL – P05701 with DOC – Okeechobee Correctional Institution.

What You’ll DoAs a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in‑cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities- Administration and interpretation of assessments
- Delivery of the 100‑Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum
- Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department
- Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered
- Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form, DC5‑149 "Correctional Daily Attendance Roster" (Attachment #2)
- Providing information pertaining to pre‑release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer’s
- Assisting the Pre‑Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre‑release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face‑to‑face and technology‑based interactions
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma, and at least two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, or corrections field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry
- Associate’s Degree and at least one year of experience in the social services or corrections field
