As an Elementary Perm Substitute, you will enable children to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.
You Will Impact Education
- Review plans and schedule with the principal, supervisor, and/or designated teacher to be followed during the teaching day.
- Teach the lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
- Report in writing the day's activities at the conclusion of each day and provide other feedback as requested by the building principal.
- Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject.
- Consult as appropriate with the building principal and/or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher’s plans.
- Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms to which you are assigned.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and at other times during the school day as requested.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior at all times throughout the school day for assigned students.
- Maintain good relations with the faculty and staff of the district.
- Treat information about students and staff with utmost confidence.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company; support the company’s values in academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial health.
- Work and interact with staff, relating to individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Effective time management: prioritizing, organizing, scheduling.
- Computer basics:
Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook). - Strong communication skills—oral (including presentations), written, interpersonal (active listening), negotiating, and influencing.
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
- Completion of District’s Substitute Workshop.
- Commitment to company values.
- Alternative qualifications that CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Usual school working conditions.
- Can be noisy during high student traffic.
- No physical exertion required.
- Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
- Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Job is non‑exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
