Summary

The Secondary Teacher (grades 6-12) is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a secondary school for the  school year, including Chemistry and Earth Space.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement instruction aligned with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
• Create a positive learning environment based on respect and rapport.
• Deliver engaging and rigorous lessons to maximize student achievement.
• Use diverse teaching practices to meet students' cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Assess and monitor student performance, progress, grades, and attendance.
• Manage classroom behavior with effective strategies and disciplinary procedures.
• Communicate regularly with parents and school personnel about student progress.
• Ensure health and safety of students and secure equipment and records.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum qualifications include Florida Temporary Certification;
  Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred.

Physical Demands

• Activities include standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
• Lifting up to 10 pounds.
