Position SummaryThis position will work collaboratively with children, staff, families and school district staff to support individual participants who present challenging behaviors in youth programs such as summer camp, before and after care and Kids Zones. They will identify the areas of need and develop a plan to implement successful opportunities for youth and training/coaching opportunities for staff.
Core and Strategic Functions High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities- Provide early intervention as deemed necessary.
- Provide onsite support as well as, collaborates with on‑site staff, school personnel, families, and other early childhood agencies, as appropriate.
- Provide staff development opportunities and modeling on effective strategies to manage behavior.
- Provide parent support and resources for community services.
- Work closely with the Director of Training & Support to provide updates on any referred child.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Promote and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public communication media.
- Actively participate at schools, school districts, community organizations and community events.
- Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause.
- Participate in Annual Campaign efforts.
- Participate in branch special events for fundraising or mission advancement.
- Serve as a member of the school age team and support the association objectives of the YMCA.
- Accountability, professionalism, relationship based behavior, and ethical behavior are required at all times.
- Teach, role model and promote SMART behavior.
- Support the GPS initiatives.
- Advance our work in Youth Development, Healthy Living, Volunteerism and Philanthropy.
- Incorporate Living Our Cause into work products and behavior.

YMCA Competencies – Team Leader1. Communication – Communicates for influence to attain buy‑in and support of goals
HS Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred (Psychology, Special Education)
Work Experience- Minimum of 2 years’ working with children required.
- Certificates/License (currently have valid or must obtain within 90 days and maintain).
- Must meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria.
- CPR/First Aid required.
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Remain outdoors for extended periods of time.
- Squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Visual and auditory observation of staff, volunteers and members.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must be able to manage and cultivate relationships.
- Must have a high level of emotional maturity.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
