Program OverviewThe Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program operates on the campus of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee and at Sunland in Marianna under the auspices of The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) is dedicated to empowering persons with developmental disabilities charged with a felony crime to:
- Acquire the skills and supports that will prepare them for success in their future environments.
- Acquire the skills needed to become competent to stand trial.
- The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for the development, evaluation, and coordination of the Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program Training and Professional Development Program. This position researches and develops curricula, conducts classroom instruction, prepares lesson guides, and program plans to improve training programs, documents, and tracks all training aspects.
- Researches, develops curricula using computer programs such as PowerPoint, Captivate, or other computer software programs as paired with assignments for the improvement and development of our agency staff through New Employee Orientation (NEO) and other trainings as determined. Evaluates and edits written curricula Plans, organizes, coordinates, schedules, and delivers NEO for all new employees hired by the Agency. Ensures In‑service training programs are planned, organized, coordinated, delivered, and tracked for compliance, and all annual training requirements are met by all staff.
- Ensures that all related LMS recorded training information is input and maintained in the LMS training database. Monitors the LMS system to ensure accuracy. Assists other departments with LMS information as requested. Provides monthly training compliance reports to the supervisor. This may include additional input of data related to NEO data and compliance/standards data.
- Administers the MANDT program for the Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program. This includes but is not limited to interfacing with the MANDT staff that regulates certification and ordering the required classroom and other materials required by MANDT to maintain professional certification.
