Teacher Aide

At People's Arc of Suffolk's Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center, we understand the importance of the early years in a child's learning and development. Our model consists of a continuum of services throughout the child's adolescence, and prepares students for further education, future employment and a life of self-sufficiency.

Assists the Teacher in the implementation of the education program for the birth to 21 years of age. Performs related work as requested.

• Attends to the physical needs of the children
• Adheres to the Health Safety and sanitation policies, and maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic classroom.
• Assists the teacher in implementing the education program.
• Performs supportive teaching duties under the direction and supervision of the teacher.
• Performs additional tasks in a timely fashion
• Positions, transfers, and feed students as necessary

  Monday to Friday 8:15 am - 2:45 pm (30 hours/week), on a 12-month school year.

• Graduate of an accredited High School GED
• Minimum of one year experience working with children in a classroom or childcare environment preferred.
• Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
• Must have the ability to supervise children in a variety of educational settings including, but not limited to, self-contained and integrated.
• Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of students which may include, but are not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
