This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Holmes Correctional Institution in the Education Department. This position is for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching position in Auto Body
.

The purpose of the Career and Technical Education Teacher is to facilitate educational programs for inmates by teaching assigned subjects, maintaining classroom safety and discipline, supervising attendance, evaluating student progress, and supporting curriculum and program administration.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for teaching the assigned career and technical subject(s) to students at a correctional institution/facility. Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

• Plans, develops, and conducts classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
• Supervises inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
• Ensures order, discipline, tool control, and safety in the classroom and/or shop.
• Evaluates student progress, administers grades and tests, and counsel’s individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
• Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.

Salary

Incentives:

• Applicants in possession of a master’s degree (official transcripts) may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually.
• Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 hiring bonus.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

• A high school diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years’ experience in the CTE subject area being taught; or
  • Possession of current licensure or certification(s) in the CTE being taught or a postsecondary certificate of completion (must submit transcript/certificate of completion) may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
• Must hold the applicable subject area license or industry certification or be willing to possess within 12 months of hire.
